Climbing Photography

I have been climbing for over 25 years. Originally from West Virginia, I got an early start as a teenager climbing in the New River Gorge and Seneca Rocks. Since then, I have climbed everywhere from the beaches of California to Acadia National Park in Maine. I've been through many different phases, including highball bouldering, sport climbing, ice, trad, multipitch, and deepwater soloing. When it comes to photographing climbing, there is simply no substitute for experience.

Veteran Presence

I am more than just your photographer. Far from being a bystander or a liability, I know what is going on. Not only can I take care of myself at a crag, on the wall, or in the back country, I can work as a member of your team. I have technical rope skills, up-to-date wilderness first aid training, and have learned many lessons "the hard way" over the years. Although I have plenty of practical experience with what "inherently dangerous" actually means, I have learned to be a very calculated risk taker. I will make sure we all come back, and with plenty of photos worth bragging about.

More than Photographs

You have plenty of pictures taken by friends. Now it is time to get some photographs worthy of a fancy frame hanging in your parent's living room. But I am a climber too, so I'm going to take it one step further and capture the feelings and emotions you experience while climbing. Whether you are locked-in focused, pumped, afraid, exposed, in pain, or full of zen, I take photos that tell a story.
